So, I've heard a lot of great things about DQ3. Supposedly, it was this huge groundbreaking game that changed RPGs forever and all modern JRPGs owe something to DQ3. Japan apparently exploded when it first released, too. I've heard stories about how tons and tons of people skipped work and school to go buy it day one, game stores were sold out within minutes, and some people were actually mugged for their copies on their way home. It was so crazy that the Japanese government actually had to make a new law to prevent chaos like that from happening again. Those are the stories I've heard, at least.
Anyway, since it was apparently such an amazing and historic game, I figure that I, being a huge fan of JRPGs, would be remiss to not give it a try. I did some research and found out that the most recent version of the game is the iOS port, but apparently that's a really lazy and poorly done port with a lot of stuff downgraded or outright removed compared to prior versions of the game, and the translation seems to be of questionable quality as well. Some more research led me to the conclusion that the SNES version is probably the most 'definitive' version of the game. However, it doesn't seem that the SNES version ever got an official English release, meaning my only option for playing the SNES version is to use a translation patch.
I looked up some translation patches and found only one that seems to be complete, made by a group called 'DQTranslations'. There's a ver 1.0 and a ver 1.1 of the patch, and you'd think that the ver 1.1 would obviously be the superior version, but upon doing some more research, I found out that there's apparently multiple different 'ver 1.0's and 'ver 1.1's floating around out there, and some of them have bugs while others don't or have different bugs. One of the bugs in one of the variations apparently can erase your save data, which I would rather not be something that happens to me. Does anyone know where I can find the version that has the least glitches? Or even another translation patch altogether that doesn't have any game-breaking glitches and is still complete?
TL;DR: Can anyone please direct me to the most complete, stable, and bug-free (or at least, free of harmful bugs) translation patch for the SNES version of DQ3? I would greatly appreciate it.
